There are private groups (private shelters) operating shelters to support women and their children who have been victims of domestic violence (DV) all over Japan.
The National Women's Shelter Net is a network of private shelters across the country that connect, support each other, share information, and disseminate information to society.
Currently, 67 member organizations are working to create a society that eliminates "violence against women" (DV, sexual violence, stalking, sexual exploitation, and sexual harassment) through the enactment and revision of the DV Prevention Law and the revision of the criminal code related to sexual crimes.
